Grant caps standout season with DI Offensive Player of the Year honors
Charlotte, NC – New Mexico Military running back Anthony Grant has been named the 2021 NJCAA Division I Football Offensive Player of the Year, presented by the Marines.
Over 12 games, Grant led New Mexico Military's explosive offense as the top running back in the nation in four major categories. Grant, a 5-foot-11 sophomore, topped the national leaderboards in rushes (241), yards (1,730), yards per game (144.2), and yards per rush (7.2).
Grant's season-long efforts were integral to the Broncos claiming the program's first NJCAA Division I National Championship title with a 31-13 win over top-ranked Iowa Western. In the final game, Greant rushed for 192 yards on 34 carries including a 23-yard run for a touchdown in the first quarter to put the Broncos on the scoreboard.
Grant posted a season-best 398 yards in the inaugural NJCAA Division I Football Playoff semifinal game against No. 3 Northwest Mississippi on December 5 at the Wool Bowl in Roswell, NM. Over 26 carries, Grant averaged 15.3 per attempt and found the end zone five times. Grant rushed for 100+ yards in seven of his 12 games this season, including three 200+ yard performances.
In addition to the NJCAA Offensive Player of the Year award, Grant was honored as an NJCAA Division I All-America First Team selection. NJCAA Division I Football Championship MVP, and Southwestern Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) Offensive Player of the Year.
