DuPage coach Matthew Rahn named DIII Football Coach of the Year
Charlotte, NC - For the second consecutive year, College of DuPage (IL) head coach Matthew Rahn has been named the NJCAA DIII Football Coach of the Year.
In only his second year as DuPage head coach and for the second year in a row, Hahn led the Chaparrals to a 14-12 win over North Dakota SCS in the DIII Football National Championship game to finish out the season.
In their 2022 campaign, the Chaparrals went 9-2 on the season with their only two losses being against DI football programs Georgia Military and Iowa Central. In their 9 wins, Dupage outscored their opponents 372-79. His team went No.1 in overall points scored (396) and No.1 in overall rushing (2568) and passing (2262) yards on offensive, and tied for No.1 in fumble recoveries (15) on defense.
At the conclusion of this season, Hahn had a total of 12 players announced to the 2022 NJCAA DIII Football All-America team with 6 first-team and 6 second-team players announced.
During his first season with DuPage, Hahn led his team to a 34-20 victory against Nassau to claim the first ever NJCAA Division III Football National Championship title. The Chaparrals went 9-2 on the season after facing six DI football programs. At the conclusion of the 2021 season, 13 of Hahn's athletes were named to the All-America team with five first-team and eight second-team players announced.
As a player, Hahn started two seasons for DuPage in 2000 and 2001 before moving on to play at NAIA Hastings College in Nebraska. Following his collegiate career, Hahn played 13 seasons in professional arena football (CIF, CIFL, AFL, UIF, and IFL). During his time in arena football, he played in three professional arena championship games in 2010, 2015, and 2018 while winning the 2015 Champions Indoor Football title with the Sioux City Bandits.
Prior to being named Head Coach for DuPage in late 2020, Hahn was the associate head coach for the Chaparrals for sevens seasons while serving various duties such as director of operations, offensive coordinator, and co-defensive coordinator.
