Week nine NJCAA Game of the Week matchup announced
Charlotte, NC – The NJCAA has announced details for the week nine NJCAA Football Game of the Week on ESPN+. The match-up will feature the No. 13 Kilgore Rangers traveling to face the No. 14 Trinity Valley Cardinals on Saturday, October 22 at 3:00 PM ET / 2:00 PM CT in Athens, TX.

The Rangers currently hold a 3-2 record. Back-to-back wins over SWJCFC conference members Tyler Junior College (41-10) and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M (41-0) started their season. Kilgore fell to New Mexico Military Institute (31-24) and Navarro (28-21) in consecutive weeks before shutting Cisco College out in a 34-0 win during week seven. The Rangers host a non-conference match against Southern Shreveport on Saturday, October 15th before coming into the Game of the Week.
Kilgore is averaging 359.2 yards per game. The offense is averaging 32.2 points per game while the defense has allowed 13.8 points per game. Sophomore running back Donerio Davenport leads the conference in rushing with 99.8 yards per game. He also has scored seven touchdowns for the Rangers.
Trinity Valley (TX) sits at No. 14 in the NJCAA DI Football poll. The Cardinals currently boast a four-game winning streak. The squad has dominated during this stretch, winning by an average of 29 points per game. Their closest contest came at Tyler (TX) on September 17 in the Game of the Week matchup. The Cardinals outscored the Apache 21-7 in the fourth quarter en route to a 28-27 victory. Trinity Valley's only loss came at Snow (UT), 36-14 in Week 1. The Cardinals, 4-1, are one win away from matching their win total from last season.
Trinity Valley ranks third nationally with 283.2 passing yards per game. Quarterback Darion Peace has improved his completion percentage each of the last three weeks (54% -> 67% -> 76%). Peace has a plethora of weapons at his disposal on offense. He's thrown at least one touchdown pass to 10 different teammates. Trent Hudson leads the squad with 297 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The Cardinals' defense holds their opponents to an average of just 113.6 passing yards per game. That's good for sixth in the nation. Zayteak McGhee anchors the secondary with 28 tackles, two interceptions, and three fumble recoveries.
