Princess Arredondo Named 2025 NJCAA DII Softball Player of the Year
Charlotte, N.C. – Princess Arredondo of St. Johns River State (FL) was selected as the 2025 NJCAA Division II Softball Player of the Year. Arredondo leads the nation in multiple hitting categories and etched her name in the Vikings' record book.
A power-hitter, Arredondo led the nation in hits (115) and total bases (217) while also ranking third in home runs (25). Arredondo set new single-season program records in batting average (.498), hits, home runs, and RBI (83). She also set career program records in the same categories for the Vikings with a .464 batting average, 200 hits, 50 home runs, and 153 RBI.
Arredondo struck out just eight times during 2025 in a nation-leading 269 plate appearances. The sophomore tallied a 36-game hitting streak during the season that spanned from March 1-May 22. On defense, Arredondo recorded a .959 fielding percentage with 84 putouts and 56 assists in 2025.
"Princess is a professional hitter; her bat to ball skills combined with the power aspect of her game make her a special player," St. Johns River State Head Coach, Joe Pound, explained. "She has had an unbelievable career, re-writing the record books and leading SJR State Softball to back-to-back World Series appearance including our first National Championship in 2024. I am thankful for what she has done for this program and excited to watch her continue her career at James Madison University next year."
Arredondo was also one of the nation's best in doubles (27) and runs (86) while helping St. Johns River State make the second NJCAA Division II Softball World Series appearance in program history and in as many years. After receiving the tournament MVP honor in 2024 as the Vikings won the championship, Arredondo and St. Johns River State took home third place in 2025.
