Phoenix's Hardy tabbed DII Pitcher of the Year
Charlotte, NC – Brianny Hardy of Phoenix (AZ) has been named the 2022 NJCAA Division II Softball Pitcher of the Year.
Hardy, an NJCAA First-Team All-America selection, earns the top honor after leading the nation with a nation-leading 42 wins and 390 strikeouts while boasting the fourth-best ERA in the nation at 1.18 (39 ER/231.1 IP). Averaging over 11 strikeouts per game, the sophomore helped lead the Bears to their fourth-consecutive championship final appearance, and second-consecutive championship title.
The sophomore hurler caps off a memorable NJCAA career, which saw her compile numerous prestigious accolades to go along with the two championship titles she's earned. Hardy took home NJCAA Division II Player of the Year in 2019, and was last season's pitcher of the year, before once again claiming the title for the 2022 season.
Phoenix's ace concluded the season atop numerous statistical categories, including wins (42), strikeouts (390), shutouts (15), and complete games (29). She also led the way in appearances, having thrown in 47 of Phoenix's 58 games played this season. She also had 18 games with double-digit strikeouts this season.
She also was a force at the plate for the Bears, boasting a .327 batting average with 12 home runs and 49 RBI, to go along with a .709 slugging percentage.
Hardy finishes her career a two-time champion and will look to continue to her career at the NCAA level.
