Rock Valley sophomore Hockerman named DIII Pitcher of the Year
Charlotte, NC - Hannah Hockerman of Rock Valley (IL) has been named the 2022 NJCAA DIII Softball Pitcher of the Year.
Hockerman was a key figure for the Golden Eagles this season, leading the nation in wins and her 1.74 ERA was second in the country. The sophomore's 222 strikeouts were also second in the nation. She is the second consecutive Rock Valley pitcher to win this award.
The Southern Illinois commit shined on the national stage at the 2022 NJCAA DIII Softball National Tournament. Over the course of the tournament, Hockerman pitched 16 innings, while only allowing two earned runs and striking out 23 batters. Hockerman took the mound against Brookdale (NJ) and Corning (NY) in the second round and semifinal to punch the Golden Eagles ticket into their eighth straight National Championship game. The sophomore threw a complete game in both contests. In the title game against Corning, Hockerman shut out the Red Barons in the final two innings to pick up the save and secure their 8th straight National Championship. These efforts earned her the Most Valuable Pitcher award at the National Tournament.
