Alec Williams tabbed DIII Defensive Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC - Tyler (TX) freshman outfielder Alec Williams has been named the 2021 NJCAA DIII Baseball Defensive Player of the Year, presented by the Marines.
Williams was flashing the leather for the national champion Apaches this season. He finished with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage across 46 games in the outfield while collecting 75 putouts and 11 assists across 46 games from right field. Williams was also a solid hitter in the middle of the Apache lineup. He finished the season with a .343 AVG, 29 RBI, and 14 SB.
Tyler entered the 2021 NJCAA DIII Baseball World Series as an at-large selection and the No. 2 overall seed. Williams' strong play in right field helped guide the Apaches to its sixth baseball national championship after winning all four games.
