NJCAA announces virtual 2021 Convention presented by the Marines
Charlotte, NC - The NJCAA has announced the upcoming 2021 NJCAA Convention presented by the Marines that will be held virtually from June 21-22. The event will provide an opportunity for NJCAA athletic directors, coaches, sport information directors, administrators, and presidents to participate in professional development sessions led by association, industry leaders, and official partners and sponsors.
Convention attendees will have the opportunity to take part in several different paths that will include programming specific to their day-to-day role within the NJCAA. Session topics will include equity, diversity, and inclusion, returning to sports during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, health and welfare of student-athletes, and NJCAA compliance.
"The NJCAA is looking forward to this special two-day virtual event to provide resources that our members can take back to their institutions," stated Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO. "Industry-leading speakers, sponsors, and partners will shed light on professional development in new and exciting ways."
The Marines will host a session during the 2021 NJCAA Convention titled, "Semper Fi, Develop a Leadership Culture with Your Team." Placing a priority on leadership development for coaches within the association, this session will serve as an opportunity for coaches and administrators to learn tools that can be incorporated into the day-to-day culture of member college teams and athletic departments.
Lisa Borders will serve as the keynote speaker during the 2021 NJCAA Convention awards ceremony. CEO of LMB Group, LLC, a management consultant firm, and recently chaired the Borders Commission, a strategic task force chartered by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC). Among many accolades and previous leadership roles, Borders was the inaugural president and CEO of TIME'S UP, an organization that advocates for safe, fair, and dignified work for all women. Borders is also the former Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) President, where she established live streaming games on Twitter and accelerated the league's growth.

In April 2020, the NJCAA originally announced Birmingham, AL as the host location for the 2021 NJCAA Convention. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, moving this year's convention to a virtual platform will allow membership from across the country to take advantage of the event's professional development opportunities without being affected by travel limitations or attendance costs.
The deadline to register for the 2021 NJCAA Convention is June 18. Those that register early by June 1 and attend the NJCAA Convention will be entered for a chance to win an NJCAA prize pack. All NJCAA Convention attendees will be entered to win a $500 stipend that can be applied to attend the 2022 NJCAA Convention in Birmingham, AL.
