2017-18 NJCAA Academic Teams of the Year announced
The top academic teams of the year have been announced by the NJCAA
Colorado Springs, CO – The NJCAA has announced the 2017-18 Academic Teams of the Year with 27 programs earning the prestigious recognition of achieving the highest GPA in their respective sport.
14 men's program along with 13 women's programs boasted the top GPA in their sport while meeting the minimum 3.0 requirment. Five Barton (KS) programs were recognized by the association for the highest GPA - men's swimming and diving, women's basketball, women's golf, women's swimming and diving, and women's volleyball. Three other member colleges - Dodge City (KS), El Paso (TX), and Meridian (MS) received multiple honors.
The Meridian women's tennis program boasted the highest GPA of any team in the nation with a 3.85 total. The East Mississippi football program was the lone team to earn the highest GPA in its respective sport while also winning a team national championship in the 2017-18 season. Pratt (KS) and Rowan-Gloucester (NJ) tied for the top overall GPA in men's wrestling.
A total of 739 programs earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
