Erie, Fort Pierce to alternate swim & dive championships
Charlotte, NC - Erie (NY) will serve as the host for the 2021 NJCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in Buffalo, NY and Indian River State (FL) will host the championships in 2022. The two sites will alternate hosting through 2026.
"We are excited to get the opportunity to continue to host the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at SUNY Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Athletic Center," stated Steve Mullen, Erie Director of Athletics. "The West Herr Natatorium hosts dozens of collegiate and amateur championships each year and it's the NJCAA Championships that have produced some of the top performances in the pool's history."
The Burt Flickinger Athletic Center opened as a legacy to the World University Games in June 1994. The facility houses an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 25- meter warm-up pool, three regulation basketball courts, a large field house which seats 3,000, a 1/9-mile indoor jogging track and a Wellness Center. In addition, locker rooms and showers are available as well as Athletic Department offices and a number of classrooms that are located on the first floor.
The Indian River State College aquatics complex includes one 25-yard x 25-meter pool with diving well and maxi flex boards and one 50-meter x 25-yard swimming pool.
The event will return to the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center in 2021 where it last was in 2019 and to the Indian River State Aquatics Complex in 2022 after hosting in 2020. Historically successful, Indian River State (FL) claimed both the 2020 men's and women's title in March.
The 2021 championship will be held March 3-6 while the dates for 2022 are March 2-5.
