Jeremy Reyes of Harford Tabbed DI Baseball Defensive Player of the Year
Charlotte, NC – Harford Community College's Jeremy Reyes has been named the 2026 NJCAA Division I Baseball Defensive Player of the Year, capping off an excellent sophomore season.
Reyes takes home the honor after posting an impressive .991 fielding percentage with 22 double plays, 66 assists, 43 put outs, and one error. The sophomore Fighting Owl was one of the key players in the middle infield that led them to claim their historic world series run.
Head Coach Josh Houser highlights Reyes's contributions saying, "Jeremy is one of the most talented players I have had the pleasure of coaching. He's mature beyond his years on the field and can impact the game on so many different levels. He's our catalyst and someone who has not only put our offense in a position to score a lot of runs, but the value and steadiness he provides on the defensive side of the ball is a large reason why we defended the baseball among the best in the country this year."
Reyes's versatility is shown, while he currently has 1 triple, 15 doubles and 12 home runs as well.
Houser goes on to explain how Reyes has impacted the Fighting Owls by noting, "Jeremy carried himself with grace, humility, and a burning desire to do whatever it would take to win. All his efforts this season was with one thing in mind, and that was to compete for a National Championship. I'm so glad he got to share that moment with his teammates, while showing the world just how good of a player and person he is."
He highlights that Jeremy deserves this recognition, and has been a standout player all around in the NJCAA this season.
