NJCAA Welcomes Three New Member Institutions
The Board of Regents approved the move at the annual 2026 NJCAA Convention.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has officially expanded its membership with the acceptance of three new institutions. The NJCAA Board of Regents approved the following recommendation of the Membership Committee during the April 2026 NJCAA Convention in Kansas City.
The newest institutions admitted into the NJCAA include:
- Hudson County Community College — Jersey City, New Jersey (Region 15)
- Valley Forge Military College — Wayne, Pennsylvania (Region 19)
- Wor-Wic Community College — Salisbury, Maryland (Region 20)
The addition of Hudson County, the Valley Forge Trojans and the Wor-Wic Dolphins further strengthens the NJCAA's national footprint and commitment to serving student-athletes through opportunity, access and competition.
"The NJCAA is excited to welcome these three new members to our association," Dr. Brett Monaghan, NJCAA Vice President of Championships, Membership and Sports Governance, said. "As each institution worked through our new member process, it became apparent to our campus visit teams and Membership Committee that each of these schools aligned well with the NJCAA's mission and values. We look forward to continuing to assist them all as they develop their individual athletic departments."
The schools were approved through the Association's membership review process and accepted during the Board of Regents meeting held as part of the annual NJCAA Convention, where governance matters, strategic priorities and membership actions were considered.
The addition of the three institutions reflects the NJCAA's continued mission to foster participation, competition and academic and athletic excellence for two-year colleges nationwide.
Hudson County will offer men's and women's basketball, as well as women's volleyball at the Division III level during the 2027-2028 academic year. They will also offer men's volleyball.
"The Hudson County community and HCCC are very excited to begin our journey within the NJCAA," Jonathan Sisk, HCCC Athletic Director, said. "The community has been waiting with bated breath for an opportunity to support athletics at HCCC and the NJCAA provides the perfect opportunity to provide that resource to our student-athletes and community."
Valley Forge Military College will offer men's and women's cross country at the Division III level, as well as men's and women's wrestling, beginning the 2027-2028 academic year.
"Joining the National Junior College Athletic Association positions Valley Forge Military College for a new era of growth and national competitiveness," Col. Stuart Helgeson, USMC (Ret.), President of VFMC, said. "This achievement reflects our broader vision: to develop Warrior Athletes who are as strong in character as they are in competition. We are building a program that will challenge our cadets to excel physically, intellectually and morally, preparing them for leadership in sports, service and life."
Wor-Wic Community College will offer men's and women's golf and men's and women's cross country at the Division II level beginning the 2027–2028 academic year.
"This is a transformative moment for Wor-Wic and the communities we serve," Deborah Casey, Ph.D., President, Wor-Wic Community College, said. "By introducing athletics, we are not only enhancing the student experience, but also strengthening regional pathways, connecting education, discipline, teamwork, and ultimately, workforce and transfer success."
With these additions, the NJCAA continues to grow its network of member colleges dedicated to providing transformative opportunities for student-athletes through competition, education and community.
