Gary Broadhurst – Mohawk Valley Community College (NY)
Gary Broadhurst has been a longtime fixture within NJCAA national leadership. Broadhurst currently serves on the NJCAA Foundation Board, chairs the Hall of Fame selection committee, and serves on the New York State SUNY Athletics Oversight Committee. Throughout his career, Broadhurst has been awarded the NATYCAA L. William Millar award, the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service, the NJCAA Loyalty Award and has been named the NJCAA Region 3 Athletic Director of the Year as well as a three-time NACDA Athletics Director of the Year recipient.
Broadhurst has previously served on the NJCAA Board of Regents as well as both the Men's and Women's Regional Director and Chair of the region's Executive Committee for over ten years. He has also served on various NJCAA committees. During his tenure on the Board, Broadhurst was the primary author of numerous policy statements, documents, and procedural operations. He is the former president of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators. During his presidency NATYCAA celebrated its 25th anniversary as the only professional organization that represents all two-year institutions of higher education in the United States for athletic administrators. He also served as Treasurer of the organization.
After over 43 years at Mohawk Valley Community College, Broadhurst retired as athletic director in 2022. Under his leadership, the Hawks have captured 24 NJCAA National Championships while finishing second an additional 18 times. Mohawk Valley has secured 68 Region 3 Championships with 58 runner-up finishes and 124 Mountain Valley Conference Titles. 448 student-athletes have been selected as NJCAA All-Americans with 1,149 being recognized as All-Region. Broadhurst has also played a role in the 160 individual NJCAA national champions at Mohawk Valley as well as the six student-athletes who have been selected as the NATYCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year, the most of any institution in the nation.
