Colorado Springs, CO – With a national championship in hand, Monroe’s (NY) Sierra Green has added the 2017-18 Spalding® NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Player of the Year award to her resume. Green and the Tribunes captured the 2018 national title.

Monroe head coach Tim Parrinello applauded Green and her efforts throughout the year. “Sierra Green is a player that came into the program, worked her tail off and got better every day. Her success is a product of knowing that we believed in her and that she had our trust. Her confidence was contagious and was a huge factor in our team winning the national championship. She is one of the all-time great players here at Monroe.”
Green wrapped up her stellar career as a Tribune with a 62-6 record on the hardwood. Green’s 158 three-point shots this year led the nation and also set a single-season record for Monroe. Green’s tenure also saw school records set in single-game and career three-point shots made and became a member of the program’s 1,000-point club.
Parrinello continued his praise of Green. “Her 1,109 points and 246 threes in her career are a testament to her hard work. Beyond the numbers she is a great student, teammate, friend, and leader. She is exactly what we at Monroe Community College ask our young ladies to be. We are extremely proud of her. I personally am excited to see what the future holds for her."
