Tim Parrinello named Spalding® DII Coach of the Year

Colorado Springs, CO – Monroe (NY) head coach Tim Parrinello guided the Tribunes to the program’s fifth national championship since 2001 and has been named the 2017-18 Spalding® NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

The top-ranked team throughout the entire regular season, Monroe capped its season with a 62-58 victory in the national championship game over Kirkwood (IA). The Tribunes outscored their opponents by 15.5 points in their four-game run to the title to build off of the team’s third-place finish at last year’s tournament.

After a 33-2 campaign in 2017-18, Parrinello’s career record now sits at a remarkable 613-85 for a winning percentage of .878. Monroe has not lost more than four games in a season over the last four seasons. The Tribunes also captured the DII title in 2001, 2004, and 2005 and also won the DI title in 2006.

A graduate of the University of Rochester, Parrinello led sophomore Sierra Green to the 2017-18 Spalding® NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball Player of the Year award. Green joined fellow teammate Lanay Rodney on the 2017-18 NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball All-America First Team.
