Charlotte, NC - Harper College will serve as the host for the 2020 NJCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships in Palatine, IL. Georgia Military is set to host the championships in 2021. Holyoke was awarded the bid to host in 2022.
“Harper College is thrilled to, once again, be able to host the 2020 NJCAA DIII Cross Country Championships,” stated Doug Spiwak, Harper Director of Athletics. “The last time Harper College hosted the championships was in 1985. We will be partnering with the Meet Chicago Northwest, the local convention and visitor’s bureau, to ensure outstanding accommodations for our visitors. The Chicago suburbs have a wide variety of entertainment, food, lodging and cultural options. We are conveniently located West of Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. Come for the meet and stay for a vacation.”
Spiwak discussed the unique aspects of the meet. “The meet will be held on campus near the newly renovated Folglia Foundation Health and Recreation Center (HRC). The HRC houses the Harper Hawks Athletics Department and will serve as our center for operations. The HRC is also the location of a Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) Outpatient Care Center. Having NCH as a partner, along with our athletic training staff, will ensure a healthy and safe experience for all the runners.” If you have any questions regarding the meet please direct them to Doug Spiwak, Director of Athletics.
Harper's men's and women's cross country programs have a long history of success. The men's program has won eight consecutive NJCAA DIII Men's Cross Country titles, while the women have claimed the last three NJCAA DIII Women's Cross Country championships.
The 2019 NJCAA DIII Men's and Women's Cross Country championship will return to Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts, hosted by Holyoke Community College.
