SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In the 2017 NJCAA men’s lacrosse championship, Onondaga (NY) defeated Howard (MD) 15-14 in Syracuse, New York at David W. Murphy field. With the win the Lazers finish its championship season at 15-0.
After trailing 6-2 in the mid-way in the second period, Onondaga closed out the stanza with four straight goals to go into the break tied at 6-6.
In the third frame the squads traded points with the Lazers holding the lead at 11-9 to end the third quarter. Onondaga held the advantage with just under five minutes in the fourth stanza, but Howard tied the match up off a goal from Kevin Curcio.
In the closing three minutes, Jake McNabb of Onondaga punched in what would be the winning goal for the Lazers with 2:21 on the clock and seal the 10th championship in program history.

- Russ Oakes was named offensive player of the tournament. He scored three goals in the championship game and nine points total in the tournament, eight goals and one assist.
- Defensive player of the tournament went to goalie Riley Smith. Smith tallied 16 saves in the championship match.
- Howard closes its 2017 season at 16-2.
